Palo Santo

Palo Santo is known for its properties in cleansing negative energy, calming nerves, and providing spiritual protection and prosperity. It is a form of indigenous incense and has a deep and woody aroma with undertones of citrus and cedar. 'Palo Santo' derives from its Spanish name literally means ‘Holy Wood’, and is typically found in Peru & South America. It has been used for thousands of years.

We source our Palo Santo from SacredWoodEssence, ensuring ethical harvest and a deep respect for the traditions of Palo Santo (Bursera Graveolens). When a Palo Santo tree falls in the Ecuadorian forest, SacredWoodEssence plants another and since 2008, SacredWoodEssence has worked with partner communities to plant tens of thousands Palo Santo trees, ensuring abundance for generations to come. These partner communities never cut down Palo Santo trees (in fact, it is illegal to do so under Ecuador’s strict conservation laws - which is why it's so important to know the origins of your Palo Santo!) Palo Santo is a sacred wood, and the fallen tree must remain on the forest floor for up to a decade to allow the aromatic resins to develop and cure.
